[edit] Franchise HistoryOn November 8, 2007 the team officially changed their name to the "Tampa Bay Rays" dropping the "Devil" part of the team's original name and also changin the colors to shades of blue with a yellow accent, indicating a Sun ray, although the franchise's signature fish moniker, the Ray is still shown on a patch on the uniform. On November 27, 2007 the team announces plans to build a new retractable roof stadium next to the pier in St Petersburg, Florida. It is scheduled to open in 2012.
