[edit] Franchise History
The Los Angeles Kings entered the National Hockey League in 1967 as part of the expansion that added six new teams to the league, doubling its size and giving it a coast to coast footprint.
The Kings played their first game on October 14, 1968 at the Long Beach Arena, which was one of two temporary homes - the other being the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena - that they occupied until their new arena, The "Fabulous" Forum opened on December 30, 1967.
