Casey Signs One Year Contract with Tigers

Sean Casey and the Detroit Tigers agreed to a one-year contract. Last year, Casey hit .272 with 8 HRs and 59 RBIs for the Pirates and the Tigers. Casey excelled in the post-season, hitting .432 with five doubles and nine RBIs in ten games. "I think that Sean Casey will be a big part of our team in 2007," Tigers Manager Jim Leyland said in a statement announcing the trade. "He is a tremendous teammate and had an outstanding performance in the World Series. You couldn't ask for a better combination of a person and player to retain in the Tigers organization." Contract terms were not disclosed.
