Carr fills OSU-UM game with emotion

Last year, Ohio State and Michigan met in the Horseshoe for a game between the two top ranked teams in the nation. The day before, news broke of Bo Shembechler's death, and the emotion that would now encircle the best game of the year and have multiple meanings for both the teams, the schools, and the rivalry.
Not to make fun of the dead, so I wanted to get that out of the way. But this year, Lloyd Carr is trying to bring out emotion in his team to supplement the talent that's clearly missing by leaking that he will retire after The Game. Brian does a great job, and is specifically close the the UM program, and getting from multiple sources insures that this will most likely come to fruition.
For all the disdain I have for the UM football program, and how much I poke fun at them, that is all in jest, and I have that much respect for their players and their coaches. Lloyd Carr, while he is a crusty old man as seen through Scarlet and Grey glasses is still one that calls for respect, especially with the way he treats the media, and with how much he honors this game. However, this move is just plain bush league and shows his disrespect for the game. To clout the quality of play on the field (yes, laugh all you want SEC...) with the rumors centered around himself takes the game off the field and into the media room. That's unfair to the players on both sides of the field. There was no need for discussions that would leak this information until at least after this game, and preferably after the bowl game which they eventually will lose.
This not only affects this game, but games around the country. Now, all the speculation will not be on the players fighting for the right to play in the national championship game, but around who will replace him.
It could have waited, and it should have waited as to not take precedence over what really matters in the upcoming weeks, and that's the game of college football.
