Wow. The oldest QB to start -and- win a game, Vinny Testaverde pulled one out. I especially loved the TD to Steve Smith. 20 of 33 for 206 yards is a very respectable number, but the win was the best part.
Arizona is a beaten-up team at QB as well, so not much can be read into this, but it is always nice to enter the bye week with a win. The Indianapolis Colts are ranked number one in most of the Power Polls that are out there so it will be nice to have an extra week for the coaches and staff to look over and game plan. There are ten games left in the season and the Panthers' opponenets have a combined win-loss ratio of 33-22, the next four being 15-8.
The Panthers can ill afford to be slack - not even during this bye-week, and it will be interesting to see who Coach Fox goes with to start in week 8 - and not just at Quarterback.
The "controversy" between David Carr and Vinny Testaverde is well known, and well hyped, but there is some grumblings concerning DeAngelo Williams and DeShaun Foster.
To be honest I am not sure who would be the better QB to face the Colts. David Carr has faced off against them often, but his track record is not all that impressive, and Vinny is not as mobile as he used to be. Either way the Colts defense is much improved over past years.
The position at running back is what actually intrests me more. Neither back can seem to get consistant yardage.
Weel, it might be a moot point at either position. Unless Carolina's defense can stiffen up Payton Manning and crew are going to make it for a long afternoon come the 28th.
