Carolina's positional "controversy"

As I see it the Panthers have three positions that are in a "controversy". The first, and most obvious is at Quarterback, the second would be at Middle Linebacker, and the last is at Runningback.
The media (especially ESPN) has been quick to stir up the potential for controvery at Quarterback, what with Vinny Testaverde's success against the injured Arizona Cardinals and the question mark about David Carr's back. To be honest I don't know who would be the better starter when the Panthers host the Indianapolis Colts. Carr has some experience in playing against the Colts (I'm not sure of his track record), but Vinny has experience - period. #16 also seems to be able to connect with Steve Smith better.
At Middle Linebacker Jon Beason has quietly been making a name for himself within the defense. Although he is still a rookie it would seem that the front office may have done very well in picking this young man up in this years draft. With Dan Morgan having trouble with concusions, it is nice to have a good player ready to move up and take over. I also like Beason's attitude in being willing to step aside for Morgan's return and play wherever the coaches need him.
DeAngelo Williams had a very good game against the Cardinals, but most of that was against a tired defense on the last drive of the game. Prior to that both backs seemed to struggle to gain yardage. I like the coaches willingness to give both players reps to see who is going to give them the most productivity, but I am not convinced that "running back by committe" approach actually works. Time will tell.
