Carney Lansford (Carney Ray Lansford) was born on February 7, 1957 in San Jose, California. He made his Major League debut on April 8, 1978 for the California Angels. In 1978, his rookie year, he hit .294 with 8 home runs and 52 RBI. Lansford played for the California Angels, Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 15 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Carney Lansford's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1979, when he slugged 19 home runs, hit for a .287 average and knocked in 79 runs. However, others believe that it was 1987, when he slugged 19 home runs, stole 27 bases, hit for a .289 average and knocked in 76 runs.
