Carlos Silva vs Javier Vazquez

As the Minnesota Twins travel to Chicago in preparation for this weekends series against the Chicago White Sox, Carlos Silva gets ready to start things off in game one.
Silva has battled in three games this season against the White Sox, and has lost all three. However, this is not due to a lack of effort on the part of Carlos Silva. Silva opened his personal season against Chicago, on April 7, in the second series of the year. Carlos pitched five innings, allowing one run, on five hits, striking out one and walking one, in an eventual 3-0 Twins loss. Carlos then met up with the White Sox again on May 10, at the Metrodome. This time he pitched six innings, allowing three runs, on six hits, striking out none, and walking one, in another 3-0 Twins loss. Carlos' last appearance against the White Sox, came on July 8 in Chicago. Silva pitched only five innings, allowing six runs, on ten hits, striking out one and walking none.
In the three outings he has had with Chicago, Carlos Silva has battled Javier Vazquez twice. Both games were played in Chicago, and both games ended in the same result, a Twins loss. Although Silva has not had much luck against the White Sox this season, he has pitched pretty well. Despite allowing six runs, in five innings at his last outing in Chicago's U.S. Cellular Field, Silva has only given up four runs, on ten hits, in eleven innings of play, posting and era of 3.27.
Javier Vazquez on the other hand has fared quit well against the Twins this season. Vazquez has also faced Minnesota three times, winning two games, and getting a no decision in one game. The no decision game came on May 8, in Minnesota, and resulted in a Minnesota 7-4 come from behind victory. Vazquez has dominated the Twins this season, pitching a total of 22.2 innings, allowing four runs, on thirteen hits, for an era of 1.62. Vazquez will be looking to keep his dominance over our Twins this season, and add another victory to his record.
The Minnesota Twins have other ideas however. Minnesota has lost four consecutive games, and needs a few wins to get back to .500. Although Javier Vasquez has dominated Minnesota this season, the remainder of the White Sox have not. The Twins hold a 7-5 series lead, with Chicago winning the last two game. Minnesota would like to open up that lead a little more this weekend, and hopefully win the season series. The Twins definitely need to win this series to do that.
Game one between Chicago and Minnesota will be Friday, September 7, with a 7:10 CST start time. Even though this game no longer has any playoff potential, and both teams are clearly out of the race. This series and game promises to be exciting. Minnesota and Chicago have a huge rivalry with each other. Remember, it was the Twins and Carlos Silva who beat these Chicago White Sox on the last day of the season, to overtake Detroit, and make the playoffs one year ago. So lets cheer on our Minnesota Twins this weekend, as they take on the Chicago White Sox.
