Carlos Pena (Carlos Felipe Pena) was born on May 17, 1978 in Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional (Dominican Republic). He made his Major League debut on September 5, 2001 for the Texas Rangers. In 2002, his rookie year, he hit .242 with 19 home runs and 52 RBI. Pena played for the Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays (Tampa Bay Rays) over the course of his career.

Selected by the Texas Rangers in the 1st round (10th pick overall) of the free-agent draft (June 2, 1998 - signed July 24, 1998).
