Carl Winfrey (Carl LeNell Winfrey) was born on March 27, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at DuSable (Chicago, IL), Winfrey attended the University of Wisconsin. Winfrey made his professional debut in the NFL in 1971 with the Minnesota Vikings. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings over the course of his 2 year career.
