Born on January 1, 1927 in Gratz, Pennsylvania, Carl Scheib (Carl Alvin Scheib) played for the Philadelphia Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 11 year career. Scheib broke into the bigs on September 6, 1943 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 5.04 ERA in 116 innings pitched in 1947, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Carl Scheib's best season was 1948, when he posted a 3.94 ERA and won 14 games.
