Carl Mayes (Carl Hazen Mayes) was born on March 31, 1930 in Austin, Texas. After going to high school at Pampa (TX), Mayes attended the University of Texas. Mayes made his professional debut in the NFL in 1952 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams for his entire 1 year career.
