Carl Ekern (Carl Frederick Ekern) was born on May 27, 1954 in Richland, Washington. After going to high school at Fremont (Sunnyvale, CA), Ekern attended San Jose State University. Ekern made his professional debut in the NFL in 1976 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams for his entire 12 year career.

Most people believe that 1985 was Carl Ekern's best year, as he ran back an interception for a touchdown.
