Carl Butkus (Carl T. Butkus) was born on December 26, 1922 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Central (Scranton, PA), Butkus attended George Washington University. Butkus made his professional debut in the NFL in 1948 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the New York Giants and Washington Redskins over the course of his 2 year career.
Most people believe that 1948 was Carl Butkus's best year.
