Cards Take 2-1 Lead in World Series

The St. Louis Cardinals led by the pitching effort of their ace Chris Carpenter shut down the Detroit Tigers last night, winning 5-0. Carpenter thew just 82 pitches and allowed only three hits over eight innings to notch the win. Carpenter experienced a hand cramp in the 6th and there was a logn wait in the top of the 9th. The Cardinals decided to play it safe and turned to Braden Looper to close out the game.
Jim Edmonds led St. Louis's offensive charge, going 1-2 with two walks and driving in 2 runs.
Jeremy Bonderman and Jeff Suppan will pitch tonight for Game 4.
