Cards Break the Losing Streak

by user Justjudith

The Cards beat the Indians in the 9th on a couple of errors after blowing the lead. The pitching this season is suspect and oddly out of sync. When the starters are good, the bullpen stinks. And sometimes they both stink. Some games we can score runs but can't hold a lead and some games we can't hit a thing. But at least we're 1-9 and not 0-9. Losing sucks. I was beginning to feel like a Cubs fan...

Jason Isringhausen has been scary for a couple of seasons. He's better than Dave Veres but he always loaded up the bases or gave up a homerun before finishing a game. This year we are in close games and his mistakes are going in the loss column. I haven't enjoyed watching him ever. I'd give anything for a lights out closer.

Would have been the longest losing streak we have seen since 1980 I believe. Even with Reyes at 1-2 he looks very encouraging. Too bad this year won't be ours though. Unless something miraculous happens like the rest of the pitching staff coming thru. Mets look like the only NL prospect right now. Lets hope for some big changes after AllStar.

It is really hard to say -- we absolutely cannot part with our young talent. No more Danny Haren type deals. If Marquis were hot, I'd say we'd trade him for a bat. But there are no quick fixes for us this year. Reyes and Carpenter are bright spots. Everybody else in the rotation and bullpen can be scary.

I just want to do something with the pitching. Reyes is going to be good, and I am not giving up on Carpenter. Wainwright and Reyes are not going anywhere. I guess obviously I'm going for some pitching moves. Randy Flores I don't like at all and I think he and some others need to make way...to who, I don't know yet.
