Cannonballs: Oh Those Pesky Internationals

No league action this weekend as the calendar is filled with those pesky international matches in which the national teams for all these different countries can run around and try to see who qualifies for Euro 2008. Ho hum.
A Monday evening win over Reading saw Arsenal once more claim to the top position in the Premier League the Gunners won the match 3-1 at the Madejski Stadium. The Arsenal goals came through Mathieu Flamini in the 44th minute, Emmanuel Adebayor in the 52nd and Alexander Hleb in the 78th. Last year these games like "at Reading on a rainy night" were tricky. This year, Arsenal took a lead in the first half, scored another two and walked away with an easy win. Getting results even when the other team comes out and turtles on defense is what sets this year's team apart from last year's. Next match is scheduled for November 24 when Arsenal host Wigan Athletic at the Emirates Stadium.
A few tidbits though prior to the international break. It seems that the club has been linked with a possible move Sevilla F.C. winger Diego Capel. With Juande Ramos, the former Seville manager, now employed at sp*rs I am not putting a great deal into this speculation. David Beckham is training with the England squad at Arsenal's training ground in Hertfordshire. With the MLS season done for the Los Angeles Galaxy it seems that Becks may also get to train with Arsenal. The Galaxy have ruled out any loan move to an English team and have also released him to train in England as long as he can be released for any exhibition matches that the Galaxy may arrange. Beckham of course is trying to reach the 100 cap mark for England and he does reach it he will be only the 5th Englishman to attain that level. I got an interesting e-mail from a contact close to MLS and it stated that Kasey Keller is not very happy at Fulham at the moment and would rather play for a championship than anything else. The message stated that Keller would love to go to Arsenal which with the likely departure of Jens Lehmann in the January transfer window it does make a bit of sense but I call this one unlikely as well.
Hopefully all of Arsenal's internationals come back injury free it really is the only thing I root for in these oh so pesky internationals.
