Candy LaChance (George Joseph LaChance) was born on February 14, 1870 in Putnam, Connecticut. He made his Major League debut on August 15, 1893 for the Brooklyn Bridegrooms. In 1894, his rookie year, he hit .323 with 5 home runs and 52 RBI. LaChance played for the Brooklyn Bridegrooms, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Blues and Boston Americans over the course of his 12 year career.

Most people believe that Candy LaChance's best season was 1895, when he stole 37 bases, hit for a .312 average and knocked in 108 runs.
