Chile 3 Canada 0: Canada Day, screaming fans, a great atmosphere, and the Canadian U-20 team threw it away as they get blasted. Chile dominated throughout the game, allowing Canada just 2 shots, and one shot on goal.
The first goal came in the 25th minute off a bad mistake from Canada inside the box, and Chile's Nicolas Medina easily got the ball past goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to make it 1-0. In the 54th minute, on a free kick, the ball was headed towards the far post, the Canadian defenders mess up again as Carlos Carmona easily headed the ball in to make it 2-0. The 8,000 Chilean fans roared, as they were on their way to victory.
In the 66th minute, Canadian midfielder Will Johnson had the first shot on goal for Canada, going straight to the Chilean keeper. That caused the 11,000 Canadian fans to clap for their team, who had been thoroughly dominated in the match at the National Soccer Stadium in Toronto. Then in the 81st minute, Chile's Jaime Grondona headed the ball to the far post, as Begovic could only watch as it was 3-0.
Canadian soccer fans are definitely disappointed with that performance, but Chile played extremely well, was quicker to the ball, and dominated possession. Chile faces Congo in Group A, while Canada faces Austria in the other Group A match .
