The D-Backs have been on fire since the All-Star break going 7-3 on there 10 game home stand (they had been sub .500 before the stand) and part of this may be because of two hot prospects who were recently called up.
Stephen Drew, who was called up after Craig Counsell broke a rib and went on the DL, has hit a .282 clip in 10 games (all starts) and 39 AB. He's scored 3 runs, has 2 RBI's, hit 4 doubles, 2 three baggers, the only negative is he's struck out 11 times.
Now Drew's great and all especially with the spectacular D, but the big guy, and admittedly its only a handful of games, is Carlos Quentin who was called up to fill the hole in the bench that Tony Clark left empty when he went on the DL. Quentin in 4 games (3 starts) has hit a .357 clip with an amazing 3 home runs (one in every one of his starts) and remember this is the first time that Carlos has EVER faced big league pitching. Quentin has 14 AB in which he's had 2 doubles, 7 RBI's, and 5 runs. And this kid is clutch last night Quentin hit a leadoff home-run in the top of the 11th to win the game against Philly, in the 8th he hit an RBI single that would have won the game had Jogre Julio not blown his second straight save in the ninth.
The D-Backs have plenty of other prospects, see my article about them here, but they could use some pitching prospects, so if you can trade well almost any starting player and get some pitching prospects. I think the D-Backs can win the division with some of the more promising Baby-Backs (Hairston, Young, Callaspo, and the current ones) and unload so much payroll that they could sign some major pitchers
