Calvin Sweeney (Calvin Eugene Sweeney) was born on January 12, 1955 in Riverside, California. After going to high school at Perris (Riverside, CA), Sweeney attended Riverside Community College, the University of California, Riverside and the University of Southern California. Sweeney made his professional debut in the NFL in 1980 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for his entire 8 year career.

Most people believe that 1983 was Calvin Sweeney's best year, as he hauled in 39 receptions, had 577 receiving yards and caught 5 TD passes.
