Anthony Calvillo passed the 50,000 yard passing mark in the city that saw his early potential. The gathering of 21,542 at Ivor Wynne Stadium saw him break the mark on a 13-yard pass to Kerry Watkins, to join the ranks of Ron Lancaster (50,535), Danny McManus (53,255), and Damon Allen (72,109).
Calvillo finished the night with 310 yards passing, needing only 292 yards to pass Lancaster.
Anthony started his career with the Las Vegas Posse and played one season with the team before it was shut down. He was taken by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the dispersal draft, where he played for four seasons. In 2000, with the hiring of a new coach and the signing of McManus in Hamilton, Anthony was traded to the Als. He has been the starting quarterback there since.
This has been only one of a few bright spots for the Alouettes this season. The Als currently have a 1-2 record in the early CFL season.
Maybe, with this mark being passed, the Als can get back to their winning ways. The team will host the very tough Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday night at 1930.
