Calling All NFL Game Recappers

by user Estebistec

So the 2006 NFL season is upon us at long last. Surely the game recaps box will get flooded with football games every week, as it should be. What I wanted to confront today, is the possibility that multiple recaps of the same game show up or that someone is discouraged from writing their own because one has already shown up for the game they had in mind. I wanted to see what others thought of the idea that we coordinate game recaps with all interested in a particular game. So for example, I coordinate with all interested Bengals and Chiefs fans and for their Week 1 matchup, we combine notes, analysis, and observations to generate one solid game recap.

I'm definitely not against the freedom to generate competing game recaps, if people really want to write individually and let those stand on their own merit. I reall just want to get opinions on this idea, to see if enough people think it is worth it to try to gravitate towards one recap per game composed by the ArmchairGM users that care about a game.

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Or just say leave it alone if that's what you think. Thanks!

Good idea! Also, if there is just one Texan or Charger fan, than they could be designated for the recap. Same with NCAA. It gets tricky with the multi fan teams, Browns, Packers, Patriots, etc. If someone writes one up, maybe another fan could add to it?

Sounds the best idea.

That's another good point. Could somebody designate their recap (if it starts as an individual effort) as okay for changing by someone else? If that was the case, what type of things could the next person add so that the recap stayed focused and clear? It would be hard to do this without the recap needing some sort of sweeping revision.

There will always be one recap per game - the wiki can't have two titles of the same page! :) But I think that one per game is the best idea - writers of two opposing teams should converge their efforts.

Did not realize. Thanks! I joined the site sometime after the last NFL season.

This site didn't exist (properly) until February - so you're not the only one! Bit still - 1 article - cojoined work if needs be (maybe a section on the wiki for it - for drafts?)

Right, that's what I'm thinking. At the very least we want a way to say "who is interested in this game", and let them go off and coordinate what goes into a final version.

Well, bottom line, all Bengals and Chiefs fans please message me and we'll talk about how to merge notes after the game, or at least who is planning on contributing to the recap.
