This game was a tragic comedy of errors. Again, the difference in the game was Stamps QB Henry Burris. Final score in this pre-season feeling game, Calgary Stampeders 14 - Edmonton Eskimos 18.

The first half was all Stampeders, with kicker Sandro DeAngelis scoring all of his team's points, scoring one field goal in the first quarter and two in the second quarter. Ecks QB Ricky Ray moved his team, but just couldn't get the team to score.

The second half was all Eskimos. The Ecks came out gunning in the third quarter. But kicker Sean Fleming missed an easy 38 field goal attempt and only came away with a single. In the Eskimos second drive of the second half, Ray drove his team again and finished the drive with a 35-yard strike to the birthday boy, Jason Tucker. At the end of the third quarter, the Ecks trailed the Stamps 8 - 9.

In the fourth quarter, the Eskimos kept the hammer down as Ray hit another 35-yard strike to Tucker. Fleming also added a field goal to round out the Ecks scoring. The Stamps could only muster another DeAngelis field goal and a last minute safety to score five in the fourth.

Eskimos QB Ricky Ray went 31 of 40 for 392 yards and two touchdowns. The leading reciever for the Ecks was the birthday boy, Jason Tucker, with 8 receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Leading rusher for the Eskimos was Troy Davis with 7 rushes for 34 yards. Kicker Sean Fleming went 1/3 on field goals and 2/2 on extra points.

Stampeders QB Henry Burris was 19 of 36 for 301 yards, no touchdowns and 2 interceptions. The leading receiver on the night for the Stamps was Jermaine Copeland, who had 7 receptions for 175 yards. The leading rusher for the Stamps was Joffrey Reynolds who had 13 attemps for 73 yards. Kicker DeAngelis went 4/4 on field goal attempts and 0 extra points.

The big story in my mind is the stupid/brilliant play of QB Henry Burris. For most of the game Burris made very bad decisions and threw bad passes. But, there were brief glimpses of brilliance that came out as well. If Burris can get his head out of wherever it is for 50 minutes of the game and find that 10 minute brilliance, then things might turn out okay for the Stamps. Otherwise, this is going to be a heart-pounding/heart-breaking season for the Stampeder faithful.
