One week after being released by the New England Patriots, wide receiver Reche Caldwell is now a Washington Redskin.
Caldwell's signing gives the Redskins a No. 3 receiver behind Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El; Caldwell was the Patriots' leading receiver in 2006, but dropped passed in AFC title game against the Indianapolis Colts cost New England a Super Bowl trip and led to the team overhauling its receiving core.
Mainly by adding Randy Moss and Donte Stallworth.
The move gives young QB Jason Campbell another weapon on offense to go along with Moss, Randle El and tight end Chris Cooley. The Redskins offense didn't look particularly impressive this past Sunday against the Dolphins despite a 16-13 overtime win. But with a running back tandem of Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts on top of these receivers, it stands to reason the Redskins could improve offensively as the season goes on and Campbell gets more experience.
Right?
