Cal Purdin (Calvin O'Neale Purdin) was born on February 22, 1921 in Jefferson, Oklahoma. After going to high school at Augusta (KS), Purdin attended the University of Tulsa. Purdin made his professional debut in the NFL in 1943 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Chicago Cardinals the entire time. Purdin also played in the AAFC for 1 year, playing for the Miami Seahawks the entire time.

Most people believe that 1943 was Cal Purdin's best year.
