This concept may be getting a little old, but I was bored and decided to take a shot at it. I took some different routes from the previous lists and added an X (even though it's cheating).
Overall I think the offense is a little better, but most of the bullpen sucks. But if the starters can go 7 and get 4 or 5 runs from the offense, they'd be fine.
C – Joe Mauer, (Minnesota Twins) – Hitting .376. Next, please.
1B – Nomar Garciaparra, (Los Angeles Dodgers) – Yeah, I know this should be Pujols, but the P and Cardinal status were needed elsewhere. Besides, what’s wrong with Nomar?
2B – Chase Utley, (Philadelphia Phillies) – Got someone better for U?
3B - Eric Chavez, (Oakland Athletics) – Little different pick here than the other lists, I think.
SS – Michael Young, (Texas Rangers) – Y pick anyone else?
LF – Jason Bay, (Pittsburgh Pirates) – He’s a solid left fielder and a Pirate.
RF – Alfonso Soriano, (Washington Nationals) - This came to me surprisingly late in the list.
CF – Andruw Jones, (Atlanta Braves) – Still one of the most underrated in the game, IMHO.
DH – Travis Hafner, (Cleveland Indians) – Anyone who has paid attention to me on this site knew this was coming.
SP – Brandon Webb, (Arizona Diamondbacks) – His W and his team make him crucial here.
SP – Carlos Zambrano, (Chicago Cubs) - Best Z, plain and simple, plus, who else am I going to use from the Cubs?
SP – Scott Kazmir, (Tampa Bay Devil Rays) – Yay for the D-Rays have a good pitcher that starts with K.
SP – Roy Oswalt, (Houston Astros) – Lucky late add.
SP -. Ted Lilly, (Toronto Blue Jays) – Eh, he’ll work.
CL – Jonathan Papelbon, (Boston Red Sox) – Another benefit to no Pujols.
RP – Jason Isringhausen, (St. Louis Cardinals) – His I was more important than Albert Pujols’ anything..
RP – Joseph Nelson, (Kansas City Royals) – Young guy, but his ERA is about half of All-Star Mark Redman.
RP - Emiliano Fruto, (Seattle Mariners), - See the first three bullpen guys are for the big situations, these last two are for blowouts and such.
RP – Dana Eveland, (Milwaukee Brewers) – This was the very last guy, I got sick of trying to figure out an E situation.
Bench
6th Starter/extra relief – Bronson Arroyo, (Cincinnati Reds) – Needed an A, this was the best I could do.
C – Ivan Rodriguez, (Detroit Tigers) – Older guy gets to play backup here.
OF – Jermaine Dye, (Chicago White Sox) – Not too bad for the bench.
OF – Xavier Nady (New York Mets) – X needs love too, even if it is a first name. Plus using a Mets guy here made the rest of the list difficult.
IF – Miguel Tejada, (Baltimore Orioles), Interchangeable with Young of course.
IF – Omar Vizquel, (San Francisco Giants) – Best defensive SS ever. Could play any IF position.
IF – Robb Quinlan, (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim), Dang Q…
