Born on March 9, 1973 in Suffern, New York, C.J. Nitkowski (Christopher John Nitkowski) played for the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals over the course of his 10 year career. Nitkowski broke into the bigs on June 3, 1995 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 6.66 ERA in 71.2 innings pitched in 1995, his rookie year.

Most people believe that C.J. Nitkowski's best season was 1998, when he posted a 3.77 ERA.

Nitkowski blogs about his experiences as an American playing baseball in Japan here. He has written various articles on baseball for the Associated Press as well.

Nitkowski is married with children. He is a devout Christian.
