Byron White

Whizzer White (Byron Raymond White) was born on June 8, 1917 in Fort Collins, Colorado. After going to high school at Wellington (CO), White attended the University of Colorado, where he finished second in Heisman voting as a senior. White made his professional debut in the NFL in 1938 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 3 year career.
Most people believe that 1940 was Whizzer White's best year, as he ran for 514 yards, ran in 5 TDs, picked off 4 passes and had a 41 yard punt average.
After football, White attended law school, and in 1962, was nominated and confirmed as a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
