Butch Hobson (Clell Lavern Hobson) was born on August 17, 1951 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He made his Major League debut on September 7, 1975 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1976, his rookie year, he hit .234 with 8 home runs and 34 RBI. Hobson played for the Boston Red Sox, California Angels and New York Yankees over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Butch Hobson's best season was 1977, when he slugged 30 home runs and knocked in 112 runs.
