Buster Hoover (William James Hoover) was born on April 12, 1863 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 17, 1884 for the Philadelphia Keystones. In 1884, his rookie year, he hit .341 with 1 home run and 4 RBI. Hoover played for the Philadelphia Keystones, Philadelphia Quakers, Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 3 year career.
