Born on August 31, 1881 in Boone, Iowa, Buster Brown (Charles Edward Brown) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Doves, Boston Rustlers and Boston Braves over the course of his 9 year career. Brown broke into the bigs on June 22, 1905 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 2.97 ERA in 178.2 innings pitched in 1905, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Buster Brown's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1910, when he posted a 2.67 ERA and struck out 88 batters. However, others believe that it was 1906, when he posted a 2.64 ERA and struck out 109 batters.
