Buddy Young (Claude Henry K. Young) was born on January 5, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at Engelwood (Chicago, IL) and Wendell Phillips (Chicago, IL), Young attended the University of Illinois. Young made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1947 with the New York Yankees. He played in the AAFC for 3 years, playing for the New York Yankees the entire time. Young also played in the NFL for 6 years, playing for the Baltimore Colts, New York Yanks and Dallas Cowboys over the course of his 6 year NFL career.

Most people believe that 1947 was Buddy Young's best year, as he ran for 712 yards and ran back a punt for a touchdown.
