Born on August 22, 1859 in New York, New York, Buck Becannon (James Melvin Becannon) played for the New York Metropolitans and New York Gothams over the course of his 3 year career. Becannon broke into the bigs on October 15, 1884 with the New York Metropolitans, and put up a 6.25 ERA in 85 innings pitched in 1885, his rookie year.
