Browns and Packers Swap Players

The Cleveland Browns traded wide receiver Carlton Brewster to the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday for cornerback Therrian Fontenot, provided both players pass physicals with their new teams.
The Browns have been in need of another cornerback; they recently traded Lee Suggs to the New York Jets for a cornerback but Suggs apparently failed the Jets' physical.
Brewster, an undrafted rookie from Division II Ferris State, caught 3 passes for 21 yards in two preseason games with the Browns. The Browns have plenty of wide receivers on their roster and won't miss Brewster.
Fontenot entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills following the 2005 draft. He was cut after training camp and signed to the Packers' practice squad last fall, eventually earning a promotion to the active roster and playing in the Packers' final regular season game.
He played for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe last spring and was named NFL Europe Defensive Player of the Week in Week Two after intercepting two passes against Berlin.
Fontenot played as a running back in his first two years at Fresno State before switching to defense. He played his final two college seasons as a backup cornerback and special teams player.
