Born on January 30, 1925 in Springfield, Ohio, Brooks Lawrence (Brooks Ulysses Lawrence) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 7 year career. Lawrence broke into the bigs on June 24, 1954 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.74 ERA in 158.2 innings pitched in 1954, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Brooks Lawrence's best season was 1957, when he posted a 3.52 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 121 batters.
