Tonight, the number 8 in the Nation Louisville Cardinals football team defeated the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 58-42 to improve to 2-0 on the season. QB Brian Brohm, a Heisman candidate, threw 399 passing yards on 25 completions (39 Pass attempts) for 5 TD passes. UNBELIEVABLE!! But what was even more unbelievable in this game was RB Anthony Allen's 271 rushing yards on 34 attempts (an average of 8 yards a carry). Did I mention that this guy is a sophmore?
Brohm's stats in his first two games:
Versus Murray St.
16 for 21, 375 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT
Versus Middle Ten.
25 for 39, 399 yards, 5 TD, 0 INT
Total
41 for 60, 774 yards, 9 TD, 0 INT
Sophmore RB Anthony Allen had just 56 rushing yards last week on 7 ATT, with a TD. But, this week he gained 271 yards on 34 carries and 2 TD's. If he can play that well for the rest of the season he would be an automatic Heisman trophy for him. If he averages 271 yards for the rest of the ten games (not gonna happen), then he would have 3,037 rushing yards at the end of the season, it doesn't matter if you are on the worst team, or you have the easiest schedule, your'e gonna win the Heisman trophy by the end of the season. He would also have gotten 23 TD's if he averaged two TD's a game from here on out, but like I said before, no way in hell is that gonna happen. But, that would be cool if it did.
Louisville dominated the game, yet again, they didn't. The score shows that it was a relatively close game, but I think that Louisville absolutely dominated the game. The Louisville offense gained 723 total yards, and held the ball for 38 minutes, and 59 seconds compared to Mid Tennessee's 21 minutes, and 1 second. Louisville had 3 WR's to accumulate 100+ receiving yards, Mario Urrutia (139 yards 2 TD's), Gary Barnridge (126 yards 2 TD's), Harry Douglas (100 yards, 1 TD). Middle Tennessee turned the ball over 4 times (2 INT, 2 FR), and that's no way to win a ball game, especially when your'e playing a team like Louisville.
Louisville's schedule looks relatively easy (Kentucky, Syracuse, NC State, Utah Cincinnati, Conneticut) until October 27, when they play pretty tough teams from there on out (Pittsburgh, WV, S. Florida, and Rutgers). Louisville, as of right now, play just two ranked teams. All in all, I really like this team's offense, and team overall. They will win whatever bowl game they play in, although I don't think they will end up being in the top 3 in their Conference due to a very tough Conference (they will be behind West Virginia, and Rutgers) in the Big East.
