The first possession for the Stamps was a three-and-out, not really a Burris mistake. I just didn't understand going with the running back on a second and 11, for two yards.
BC, however, came out gunning. But the drive stalled after an incomplete and a Stamps stop for 0 yards. BC did come away with a field goal from 39 yards out.
The next Calgary possession started well, but came to a halt after a penalty and two incompletes. The punt from Burke Dales, a 70-yard punt, was unreturnable from the end zone, giving the Stamps it's only point of the quarter.
On the following BC series, Dave Dickenson led his team down the field. Culminating in a 24-yard touchdown pass to Paris Jackson. At the end of the first quarter, BC 10 - Calgary 1.
Burris finally found some life and completed four of his next six passes. Sandro DeAngelis scored on his first opportunity, when the drive stalled at the BC 2. The 9-yard field goal was a big waste on a great opportunity for a major.
The teams traded turnovers next. First was the fumble by Ken-Yon Rambo, then an interception of Dickenson by CB Tony Tiller. This opportunity gave DeAngelis another score on a field goal, this time from 33 yards. BC kicker Paul McCallum came back with a field goal of his own from 28 yards. At the half, BC 13 - Calgary 7.
BC pinned the Stamps early in the third, deep in their own territory (Cal 15). The punt from Dales was a 33-yard shank, giving the Lions great field position.
After two passes and two runs, Dickenson threw a touchdown pass of 3 yards to Joe Smith. The convert was a fake kick that was stopped from reaching the end zone.
Only DeAngelis managed to make some noise as he kicked another field goal for the Stamps. Hitting one from downtown, for 50 yards.
Dickenson threw another pick, this time to J. R. Ruffin, who returned the ball 38 yards. Then Burris threw a pick to CB Dante Marsh who returned the ball 63 yards for a BC touchdown. Bye-bye Burris, enter McManus. At the end of the third, BC 26 - Calgary 10.
McManus came in and threw two passes on his first drive. First, a 15-yard pass to Markus Howell, then, an 81-yard bomb to Howell for a Calgary touchdown.
BC answered with two rushing plays. The first was a Joe Smith 9-yard run and the second was 66-yard scamper by Smith, for yet another BC major.
McManus and Dickenson traded possessions. The following Calgary possession resulted in a 26-yard interception return for the Leos, by DB Barron Miles]. The Lions went down and scored another touchdown on a Smith 3-yard run.
The scoring was finished on a Calgary 24-yard field goal.
