[edit] BiographyBrian Daniel Leonard (born February 3, 1984 in Gouverneur, New York) is an NFL running back and fullback for the St. Louis Rams. He was drafted in the 2nd round (52nd overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams and signed a four-year contract worth $2.8 million. He is known for developing the "Leonard Leap", in which he jumps over a would-be tackler. [edit] High School CareerLeonard attended Gouverneur High School in Gouverneur, New York, where he was an All-State selection twice and named the "Athlete of the Year" by the Watertown Daily Times. He finished his career with state records by scoring 696 points including 107 touchdowns, and rushing for 5,854 yards. [edit] College CareerLeonard was an All-American at Rutgers for his final three years and holds the Big East record for having a reception in each of the 47 games he played in. He also holds school records with 207 career receptions, 272 points scored, 5,961 all-purpose yards. Originally a tailback, he volunteered to switch to fullback his junior year to accommodate Ray Rice. He moved into the starting tailback role in his fourth game after starter Steven Jackson tore his groin, rushing for 58 yards on 16 carries and catching 1 pass for 1 yard against the Dallas Cowboys.
