Brian Downing (Brian Jay Downing) was born on October 9, 1950 in Los Angeles, California. He made his Major League debut on May 31, 1973 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1974, his rookie year, he hit .225 with 10 home runs and 39 RBI. Downing played for the Chicago White Sox, California Angels and Texas Rangers over the course of his 20 year career.

Most people believe that Brian Downing's best season was 1982, when he slugged 28 home runs, hit for a .281 average and knocked in 84 runs.
