The Milwaukee Brewers will announce on Thursday that the Chorizo will become the fifth member of the Brewers/Klement's Racing Sausages, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The Brewers will add the Mexican sausage to honor the Latino community of Milwaukee, something that the area's Latino community leaders had asked the franchise to do.
The Racing Sausages, which began as an animated scoreboard show during the early 1990s, currently have four members: the Polish, Italian, Bratwurst and Hot Dog. The Chorizo will wear red, green and white and will also don a sombrero.
The Sausages gained fame during the Sausagegate affair after then-Pirate Randall Simon bashed one of the sausages over the head with a bat during a race on July 9, 2003. The original four were alo slated to be featured in an upcoming "This is Sportscenter" commercial.
More information on the Chorizo's debut will be announced during a press conference on Thursday. It's possible the new member may debut on Saturday, when the Brewers will be celebrating Cerveceros Day as a tribute to Hispanic baseball.
