ESPN News has just reported that Michael Vick has been ordered by Commissioner Roger Goodell to not report to Falcons training camp Thursday. Goodell says that the league must first finish its investigation into whether Vick violated league policies including the Personal Conduct Policy.
So what does this mean for the Falcons and Vick? First, say hello to the Joey Harrington era in Atlanta. Somewhere Lions and Dolphins fans are laughing their asses off. Second, we couldĀ see a mad scramble by Vick and his people (agent, lwayer, etc..) to try and work out the supposed "leave of absence" from the Falcons before he is suspended by the commissioner. It may be the only way he A) gets paid for this season, and B) avoid the embarrasment of a suspension.
However, there is a bright side for the Falcons. They can now have a more toned down training camp and maybe actually focus on football. Could you imagine the circus of photographers, reporters, supporters, and protestors that would be all over the Falcons training camp if Vick was there? Now, it will still be a bit crazy, but after the initial "Do you support Vick?" questions to everybody on the team it should calm down. Also, this saves Arthur Blank from having to make the decision of what to do with Vick.
And yes, I couldn't help myself. I had to add the 6 millionth Vick article to the site since the story broke. Sometimes I just can't help myself.
