There was much speculation about Michigan coach Lloyd Carr and his job security after losing the first 2 games of the year. Talks were still about about Lloyd's job after this Wisconsin defeat. After Michigan's 14-3 loss to Ohio State in a VERY boring game, Carr is now expected to announce his retirement from college football. This was reported by ESPN after Carr met with reporters about this loss that eliminated them from going to the Rose Bowl, and their 4th straight defeat to OSU.
Carr's announcement will be made at 10:00 AM EST Monday the 19th. Whether or not he will coach the Wolverines' bowl game is undecided, but should he let the interim coach whatever bowl game they go to, Carr will finish his Michigan career with a partial share of the national championship after beating Washington State in 1997. Overall, his record is 121-40, had every year he coached with Michigan end in a bowl game, and had 5 Big Ten titles.
Now the story of his replacement could be someone like LSU coach Les Miles, who played for the late Bo Schembechler.
Your turn now, what are your thoughts on what was a great career at Michigan? Although it ended on a miserable final season, with losses to App. State, and could not beat Ohio State again, he was a great coach, but it's time to move on in Ann Arbor.
