Braggo Roth
[edit] Biography
Braggo Roth (Robert Frank Roth) was born on August 28, 1892 in Burlington, Wisconsin. He made his Major League debut on September 1, 1914 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1915, his rookie year, he hit .268 with 7 home runs and 55 RBI. Roth played for the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators and New York Yankees over the course of his 8 year career.
There is some disagreement on what was Braggo Roth's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1920, when he hit for a .291 average and knocked in 92 runs. However, others believe that it was 1917, when he stole 51 bases, hit for a .285 average and knocked in 72 runs.
