Bowling like a Rockstar
Boy, I can’t begin to express how relieved I am over the NCAA approving a new postseason football bowl game in Houston starting next season. This new bowl will replace the now defunked Houston Bowl. Now I’m no wise whipper snapper, just a LastRow spectator, but is this really a smart idea. Looks to me like the Houston Bowl went bye-bye for some reason…I’m just guessing it had something to do with the lack money? Wow, imagine that…Why on earth didn’t anybody want to watch? Could it be it had something to do with the two shit ass teams that were invited year after year? Don’t get me wrong, college football kicks ass, but something about the possible the epic match up of TCU-Southern Mississippi just doesn’t seem to grab my attention...Don’t be alarmed, it may just be me?
So two more underachieving teams are going to get rewarded in H-Town for going a pathetic 6-5 on the year…Or whatever the hell one record has to be to punch the ticket to Houston again. Who’s going to sponsor this so-called "New Bowl in Houston"…Maybe GNC or Rockstar Energy drink? I motion naming it the "Rockstar69 Energy Drink H-Town" bowl. Doesn’t that have a nice ring to it? Can’t be any worse than some of these other "Big-Wig" companies throwing their names all over bowl season…AutoZone Liberty, Capital One, Champs Sports, Chick-Fil-A, Emerald, FedEx Gaylord Hotels Music City, GMAC, Pioneer Pure Vision Las Vegas, Meineke Car Care, MPC Computers, Allstate Sugar, Outback, Pacific Life Holiday, San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia, AT&T Cotton, Hawaii, Tostitos Fiesta, Toyota Gator, and Vitalis Sun. Besides doesn’t Rockstar need to do a little more promoting itself…Red Bull threw its name all over an MLS team. If Rockstar is indeed the sponsor, that would be a great way for them to get their product out there…I know I would need at least a six pack of your drinks to try to help me get through this 60-minute bore fest…I’m sure I wouldn’t be alone!
This "Rockstar69 Energy Drink H-Town" bowl is the fifth new game approved by the NCAA Postseason Football Licensing Subcommittee since the end of last season. If I do recall correctly it was Miles Brand wanted all of us to believe that College Athletics, particularly the sports of football & basketball shouldn’t be looked at as a big-time business. Yeah, Okay, Sure…Whatever you say. I’m still trying to figure out what zero tolerance means…Think coach Knight is still looking for the definition too. So if it’s not a big time business, why do we and CBS devote an entire month to ]]college basketball]]. What, we need a month to make fun of Billy "Fudge" Packer? Believe me, we can do without that. How much was the contract for that CBS signed for the rights to televise March Madness? The whole BCS F#$%& Up thing, how much do you clowns make of this? Perhaps this is why in April, the NCAA approved a fifth Bowl Championship Series game, which will be played in Glendale, Ariz.…For even more money into your clowns pocket. Could the reason be for needing more money have to due with the fact that these shitty bowls are draining the NCAA for all it’s worth? It doesn’t take a smart guy to figure out when a stadium holds 70,000 fans & only 20,000 are filled, not too much money is being made. Or having a bowl in Boise, Idaho, when it’s 20 degrees & snowing on the blue turf, doesn’t make for a good bowl experience either. Although I guess Boise’s Blue turf is a better bowl concept than having an "International Bowl" in Toronto. Toronto in the winter time…This is the best bowl idea yet. There’s a reason why the CFL season ends in November…Now let’s reward two suck ass teams with a trip to Toronto in December. Let’s see go to San Diego for a bowl game or Toronto? One good thing in attending this garbage, I wouldn’t have to be a ticket holder in the LastRow…Now this notion is making me cream in my pants as I type this. Don’t think I can control myself. Go TCU or Southern Miss, who gives a shit…I feel like a VIP not being in the LastRow any more & able to drink Rockstar. Hope this drink doesn't show up on an NCAA drug test...Oh Well. Guess we should all be on the lookout for these excellent new bowl games popping up in a stadium near you…the Birmingham Bowl and the New Mexico Bowl are next on the horizon.
