Bowl Preview: Motor City

When Purdue and Central Michigan faced off last September, the Boilermakers quickly jumped out to a 38-0 lead before winning 45-22. Subsequently, most analysts are expecting Central Michigan, who beat just one team with a winning record this season and lost by an average of 41 points against their three BCS conference opponents, to once again fall apart at the face of the Boilermakers. While on paper, this seems like a Purdue rout of CMU, Boilermaker fans should feel a little concerned right now.
Since beginning the season 5-0, Purdue has done a major nose dive losing five out of their last seven and their final three games. I question whether the Boilermakers really care about playing a MAC school the day after Christmas in snowy Detroit. On the other side, the Motor City Bowl is like a national title game for the Chippewas. With a chance to get revenge at an upper level Big Ten school, CMU should come out firing on all cylinders. With a high scoring offense led by Dan LeFavour, the Chips should find themselves scoring in bunches against an average Boilermaker defense. If Purdue comes out flat, especially on offense, look for the Chips to take advantage. Central Michigan 41-31
Overall: 4-2
