Not a bad deal. Fair market value, one less year than he wanted. We can only conclude that he really wanted to stay. He probably gotten near $60M over 4 years if he had waited until the winter meetings.
Now I know his numbers aren't great, but batting behind Manny will help both Lowell and Manny. His fielding has been great, and it'll be a pleasure to see him at third base everyday. Sox fans everywhere are breathing a huge sigh of relief. Once again I need to thank the Marlins for dumping your washed up 3rd baseman on us when we traded for Beckett!
