Boston Wins One Nil

The Red Sox continued their winning streak with a nice 1-0 victory over the Indians. Maybe it's just because I'm a soccer fan, but I love 1-0 wins. They're exciting, nerve-wracking, and very satisfying. But you'd still prefer your team to win games without so much drama. 1-0 win are like dates with Lindsay Lohan, lots of fun but afterwards you say to yourself "Do I really want to go through THAT again?"

Daisuke pitched himself into jams but pitched himself out of them. He allowed 4 hits, walked 3, and hit a batter. He also got some great relief. Okajima threw a perfect 8th, and Papelbon threw a perfect 9th with 2 strikeouts.

It was very weird to see Coco Crisp hitting 5th and J.D. Drew hitting 8th. Drew's struggles continued as he went 0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts. I do not understand why Mike Lowell doesn't hit 5th. Doesn't it seem to make sense that he hit 5th?

To beat C.C. Sabathia and the Indians in Cleveland is a great win.

Josh Beckett goes tomorrow night against Fausto Carmona (that's a magician's name if I ever heard one).

I honestly thought that the Red Sox would lose this game. The two things I think helped the most was the fact that the little things, like what Jerry Remy pointed out, the bunt in the seventh (should've sacrficed him to second), and bad baserunning by Grady Sizemore. Second, Dice K's pitch count. He pitched only 99 in 7 innings. We usually see him as a 100+ pitch pitcher. I think him getting a lower pitch count really helped him hold the Indians as well..

It's interesting, all the little mistakes the Indians made seemed like things the Red Sox would do in one of those "so many opportunities wasted" type games they've had so many of in that .500 stretch. Five in a row, can't complain. On a completely unrelated note, that shot of Grady Sizemore in the dugout in the 9th nearly knocked me unconscious. Good God that man is glorious to look at. I'm blabbering. I'll stop.

I think DiceK walked 3, not 5, but he did seem a little wild.

Lowell makes perfect sense in the 5 spot.

I hope Ortiz is in the lineup tomorrow so he can own Fausto Carmona again.

Tomorrow is going to be a heck of a matchup too. Fausto and Beckett, two very tremendous pitchers this year. Expect to see another good pitching duel tomorrow.

Regardless if it's a boy or a girl, my first child shall be named Fausto.

A very strong name, if it's a girl you could go with Faustina, but that would kind of defeat the purpose.

Smart move Rom. Think about all those kids in New York stuck with being called "Hideki". (hey that works for a former and a current Yankee!)

Crisp batting in the 5 hole will start to make sense when you really think about it...the phillies did the same thing with Rowand in the 5 hole (and he ain't a 5 hole hitter) and their offense is now among the best. Its basically the idea that you've crisp and drew with similar power numbers and crisp has been more timely... Sure it looks dumb, but it'll work for now...and since they're not going to add another bat (where would he go, and the salary issue as well)...

My point wasn't that Drew should be batting 5th. It was that Lowell should be batting 5th. He's batting .304 with 15 homers and 71 RBI. The 5 hole is about knocking guys in, he does that. But he's still batting 6th and not 5th.
