The Texas Rangers defeated the Boston Red Sox for the second straight day behind their ace, Kevin Millwood (W, 1-1). Sammy Sosa moved one home run closer to 600 with his in the 6th inning, giving him 589 for his career. Julian Tavarez (L, 0-1) gave up four runs in four innings of work. He should have a few more starts before Jon Lester makes his return to the big leagues.
Notes... David Ortiz continued his slow start, going 1-4 with a walk...J.D. Drew committed the only error of the game in right field, his first of the year... Jerry Hairston Jr. is hitting .500 so far this season... Texas's runs came in spurts -- they scored four runs each in the 3rd and 6th innings.
Coming up next: The Rangers and Red Sox finish up their series in Arlington with Curt Schilling (0-1) taking on Vicente Padilla (0-1) tomorrow at 8:05 ET.
