Boston Red Sox 11 Baltimore Orioles 1 (May 15, 2006)

The visiting Boston Red Sox finally managed to get a game in through the storm system that's been hovering over New England these past couple days - by flying down to Baltimore.

The latest Sox-O's matchup saw outfielder Willy Mo Peña power the Red Sox past Baltimore in the second inning, after Josh Beckett had given up a solo shot to Baltimore shortstop Miguel Tejada in the first.

It also saw Boston continue its streak, having now won 12 straight over Baltimore. The Tejada homer would prove to be the only Orioles offense of the day, as they managed no more runs and only two more hits against the Sox.

Josh Beckett improved his record on the season to 5-1, showing that he has fully recovered from the shaky streak he'd developed before the recent Yankee Stadium showdown. He went 7 innings today, with 2H,1R, 0BB, 6SO, and 1HR, he was in prime form tonight.

Baltimore starter Rodrigo Lopez did not fare well tonight, with 4IP, 10H, 8R, 4BB, 4SO, and 1HR. Two more Boston homers came in the ninth off former Boston reliever John Halama (3.0IP, 3H, 3R, 1BB, 1SO, 2HR) in the ninth after Halama had thrown two shutout innings.

Julian Tavarez and Keith Foulke handled things for Boston in the game's final innings; both put in sold relief efforts. The win keeps Boston in first and Baltimore in fourth in the A.L. East.

In their seven games so far this season, Boston has scored an average of 8 runs per game, while Baltimore has been held to an average of just 3 runs per game.
